I have always loved storytelling. As a child, my grandma took me to the theatre to see ballets and musicals, and we shared a passion for the way the performers told their stories through their art form. As I grew up, my fixation became books, staying up all night watching scenes play out in my head as I escaped into a different world. Finally, I came to discover the magnificent world of cinema. Like a marriage of my two favourite mediums, film expressed the intricate stories of a book with the beautiful, gut wrenching power of theatre, and I knew I had to be part of this world.
My goal with filmmaking is to give a voice to people who don't get the representation they deserve. The world needs more stories with queer, GNC, POC, disabled, and neuro-divergent folk; we deserve to be represented as more than just our labels. Filmmaking is one of the most versatile creative mediums in the world, and I believe when used to its full potential it holds a great power for change, acceptance, and for giving people a sense of belonging.
